Just had to get this out on the boards.
On May 5, our church sponsored a golf tournament to raise funds for the Food 4 Kids program of the North Texas Food Bank. We've done this for two years now and last year we did it as part of our church's 20th Anniversary celebration. It's been a lot of fun (and, of course, a lot of work) for everyone, but our tournament coordinator Dave Scott did a dynamite job on putting everything together and making it all work.
Bottom line: we raised $15,050 for the program this year. This was through the tournament itself and through the gifts of the church. Over the past two years, we've provided $32,000 for this program. That is just amazing to me. $32,000 provides 8,000 backpacks full of nutritious food for kids who really need it over the weekends during the school year.
There are times when I REALLY love my job and every year when we do this, I think to myself, "What did I do to deserve to be the pastor of this great church?"
Thanks to everyone. It really worked.
